One of the UK’s premier football clubs Leeds United plans on building a casino in its stadium. Since many football teams are searching for alternative ways to augment their income this seems like the right choice. It goes without saying that the entertainment aspect of Leeds United has just gone up a couple of notches. Good football and a casino complex what more can one ask for?
LUFC hopes to obtain a license for an ‘American style’ gaming complex within the next couple of months. The proposal for the new casino coincides with plans to build a new hotel on the stadium grounds.
The casino further compliments the new hotel (already being built) and will stretch out over two floors. LUFC stated that it is currently seeking a reputable partner with the necessary skills in casino management, one who would manage the venue on behalf of the football club.
Chief Executive of LUFC, Shaun Harvey said, “The potential of the casino coming to Leeds United is an exciting prospect and fits perfectly within our business plan of increasing revenue streams on non-match days”.
Leeds is only one of 8 cities in the United Kingdom allowed to build one, the casino has been dubbed the ‘new generation’ gaming complex. We understand that the competition for this type of casino license is fierce since it’s triple the size of the average UK casino. Other casinos that have applied for a similar license are Rushbond, Grosvenor Casino, London Clubs International and Global Gaming Ventures.
