Thomas Jones of Tivoli Casino

I’ve been in online marketing since 2006, mostly in affiliates. I started touching on igaming there as it was starting to get more popular in the affiliate channel. From there I moved in-house to working in the casino environment.

How long has Tivoli Casino been in operation now and what makes it so unique?

The operation started in Denmark in 2012 as proof of concept, due to the history with gaming at Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. The Gardens have been open for 174 years, and a huge part of its success has been its slot halls that are 100 years old this year, so there is a massive history behind it. It was actually the place where Walt Disney got his idea for his own project!

I see that the operator has dual licensing, it's licensed in Denmark and in Malta. Any particular reason for this?

The Danish operations have to run under a Danish licence (DGA), which is where operations started. The casino was so successful (2nd largest online casino within 2 years) that we opened the .com version under the LGA licence to appeal to a wider European audience, where the brand is very strong. We get a lot of our 4.2 million annual visitors from the Scandinavian region and further, so that is where we are moving into.

Tell us more about the site's promotional offers. Does it reward regular depositors? Why is the weighting of the wagering requirements predominantly slots centric?

We offer a very strong €500 welcome bonus, across the 1st 3 deposits. Added to which the customer will receive 50 free spins on their 1st and 3rd deposit. Going 1 step further, every deposit will mean the customer is entered into a monthly draw to win a trip for 4 to Tivoli Gardens in Denmark to experience the fun and excitement for themselves.

We are a slots site and that is what we specialise in. We have a strong history in slots dating back 100 years and that is what we concentrate on today with our online offering.

Tivoli Casino is powered by a number of softwares such as Microgaming, NetEnt, Play n 'Go and NYX Interactive. Which software provider/s games is more popular with players and why?

NetEnt is proving very strong in our key markets. The games, selection, payouts, etc. are very attractive to our audience. Microgaming have made big strides too with their new releases and Play N Go are also strong with a great selection. NYX games are to be released onto the .com platform soon and we are confident they will be as well received as they have been by our Danish customers.

What's the biggest payout the site paid out recently, on which game/s was it, where was the player/s from and the max bet per spin if it was on slots?

In the month of October we had one of our UK users win Euro 7821 on a single Euro 75 spin on the slot Jack Hammer 2.

The competition amongst online gambling operators is fierce. In order to perpetuate a transparent and safe gaming environment is the RNG (Random Number Generator) of Tivoli Casino regularly tested and by which firm?

We are regulated by the Lotteries and Gaming Authority, where we received our licence.

What is the current house edge of the NetEnt slots? How is it determined?

This is provided from NetEnt themselves, we don’t have any say on this.

Does Tivoli casino impose a high roller policy? If so, how does it work?

We do offer a VIP program where high stakes users are evaluated and contacted for personalized promotions on an ad-hoc basis.

BGO Casino approached Verne Troyer (mini me in the Austin Powers films) to market its brand. Will Tivoli Casino also approach a celebrity to market its brand in the near future?

Hard to say at this time, however due to the prominence of the brand throughout Scandinavia already, the brand speaks for itself.

What's the funniest thing that ever happened to you or a colleague during your employment in the industry?

Calvin Ayre’s 50th birthday party in Dublin was full of stories. Honestly there are too many small stories to tell, but it was an amazing event and an unforgettable occasion. Truly one of the most funny, lavish and decadent things I’ve ever been to.
