Betsson group CEO, Pontus Lindwall is to be elected to the board of the Swedish online casino on the 12th of May at its Annual General Meeting. This after nearly thirteen years in his current position.

On the 1st of July he takes over as chairman and Magnus Silferberg Betsson’s current Malta chief executive will be the group’s new CEO.

“I’ve been the CEO of this company since January 1998 and since then it has developed into a very large organization,” Lindwall said.

“Every department in our group is expanding and it’s important we promote individuals that excel in the workplace as in Magnus’ case. He’s very familiar with the Company’s weaknesses and strong points; these are fundamental components if we are to succeed in a very competitive casino environment.”

David Bjork has been promoted to managing director of Betsson Business Solutions in January; the former Deloitte and PriceWaterhouse Cooper’s consultant will replace Jonas Konstantinov.

This operator recorded its largest ever quarterly revenue in Q4 2010 and aims to continue this trend after its player deposits crossed the SEK1bn threshold for the first time. Lindwall said that he’ll stay on with the company and in consultation with the board make various tactical decisions. “My new job compels me to work on the strategic side and we need stay abreast with the latest market developments and ensure that our company grows at a steady pace.”

At this point in time we still haven’t decided as yet who will replace Magnus Silfverberg as CEO for Betsson and if the new incumbent would be recruited from outside or from within Betsson. Lindwall said since Betsson expanded its operations into Italy and China earlier this year, further expansion is on the cards.

He concluded, “We aim to fly very high this year, we have a lot of possibilities and a number of very lucrative projects in place.”
